How does selective eating work?
At Shapes
Slimming we try to get away from the diet concept so we do not count
calories, we restrict the high fats and sugars.
Why do we encourage "unit free" foods.
There are many unit free foods such as meat, poultry, and all types of
fish, lean bacon and eggs.
Vegetables and most fruits are "unit free" foods
Most vegetables, including root vegetables, apart from potatoes, can be used freely which eliminates weighing foods and can make losing weight easier.
Is meat restricted?
Red meat can be restricted
to two servings weekly depending on weight loss required. Vegetarian
dieters have cheese restricted in the same way.

Are
Carbohydrates restricted?
Cereal, bread, potatoes, pasta & rice are all included in the
programme with tasty, easy recipes and ideas to keep your interest
during the programme. The amount of carbohydrate in the programme is
adjusted to suit the individual.
Can I dine out when following this
program?
Yes, you can, use the social units and adjust your daily unit count to
allow for alcohol, dessert or restaurant menus. There are eating plans
to follow if required or you can do your own thing using our main
booklet for guidance.
Can I eat chocolate & crisps?
When you follow a Selective Eating Programme
you are choosing one food instead of another you can use some of your
units for chocolate and crisps if you wish. With the help of a diet
counsellor you will still have a healthy diet and a good weight loss.
What happens at a class?
Our friendly informative classes last for
one hour. You will be weighed by the class counsellor and your weight is
recorded discretely. You are then given your ideal body weight and you
can discuss with your counsellor how you can achieve this. Every week
you will receive eating plans, recipes and advice regarding our
Selective Eating Programme and we recommend you arrange to stay for the
weekly talk.
How does "Shape By Post" work?
You receive a package containing six weeks
information taking you through the programme step by step. When you
register your starting weight you will be encouraged to phone your
counsellor on the same day every week, with your progress, to keep the
same discipline as if you were coming in to class. Your counsellor can
then assist with any problems you may have. The average weight loss in
six weeks is 1 stone.
