We joined Shapes because we were both really fed up with the way we looked and felt. We had always tried to watch our weight but with busy jobs, two children and the usual pressures we had let ourselves go a little.
Once we made up our minds we started off really well and being the two of us there was some competition. Because of Ben’s working pattern he could only attend the class every other week and sometimes that was difficult, but he was determined to make it work and kept going.
Although I never missed a week because the support was really important to me and I really needed the encouragement from the class counsellor if I had slowed up a little.
Every stone we lost made us feel really good and although the weight loss was slower at the end we could always look in the mirror and see how eating differently had made us change quite dramatically. We are so pleased that we made the decision to get into ‘Shape’ and intend to work at keeping our weight at target we have joined a Gym and exercise far more now than ever before.

I hated being fat really hated it, I could not buy clothes, I had no energy, I was always feeling down. I think anyone who is really overweight will know how I felt.
It has taken just over a year but I am a different person, after the first stone I changed my hairstyle and as the weight came off my wardrobe changed completely, I started swimming and cycling all the things I wanted to do but couldn’t at 15 stone ?
I know I look good, I love shopping, I wear clothes that I never thought I could possibly wear. I love it.
I am aware that I have to keep eating sensibly  - not too much chocolate and plenty of fruit & vegetables and continue with all that I have learnt over the past year.

Ben Starting at 17 stone 4lbs
Our food was never really bad but like everyone we had began to eat too many crisps, chocolate and fast food.
The thing about Shapes is that you do have plenty to eat and my lunch of 2 sandwiches (4 slices of bread) and free fruit really has kept me from feeling hungry.
I think the hardest thing has been having to be careful about your alcohol intake because when you are out with the boys you want a few drinks.
Some weeks I have got away with socialising but as I have got nearer my target I have had to be more careful. I now am maintaining and can enjoy a drink or two as long as I eat sensibly. I do not want to go back to 17 stone!

I am living proof that you do not have to regain the weight you lose. I keep to a Selective Eating routine and enjoy a healthy diet.

There is nothing I cannot eat when following the programme but I find I am much better both health wise and weight wise if I avoid chocolate. At my old weight I was definitely a chocoholic and could get very down about the way I felt. These days I am full of life, feel great and know that I am definitely in good ‘Shape’ .

Tracy - Starting Weight 11 stone
I have reached my target weight and kept my weight stable for over 2 years I attend a class regularly and use the ideas and recipes to keep my figure as trim as it is.

I enjoyed losing weight and feel so much different to the way I felt a couple of years ago. I know I can keep to my correct weight if I follow a Selective Eating method. I eat everything I fancy these days but I have learnt to portion control the foods that can cause me to gain weight.

Shirley - Starting Weight 11 stone
Shapes Selective Eating to me is healthy eating. I have lost 2 stone and have managed very easily to keep the weight off for over 2 years. I was miserable at 11 stone and would never have a photograph taken when overweight.

I saw an advertisement in the local shop window and thought I would give it a go. Shapes have given me so much confidence and self control and I attend regularly because it has changed my life.
